Interwoven Lives, Threads of Hope: the 2024 state of the world population report | Aidos

AIDOS and UNFPA launch the new  state of the world population report 2024 on April 17, 2024

10 am Sala Caduti di Nassirya Senate of the Republic

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo. The anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come in securing sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. In the 30 years since the adoption of the Programme of Action, efforts to achieve sexual and reproductive health and rights have been largely successful and continue to inspire significant progress.

But there are still many people who continue to be left behind. Differences in power and opportunity related to gender, racialization, nationality, among many other factors, largely limit people’s life choices. In a world of enormous wealth and availability of safe solutions in sexual and reproductive health, such disparities suggest a lack of will, not a lack of ideas or resources.

The new UNFPA report, Interwoven Lives, Threads of Hope: Ending inequalities in sexual and reproductive health and rights, examines, through new data and stories from the field, the impact of access to sexual and reproductive health information and services around the world.
