AIDOS held a workshop on how to communicate about gender violence aimed at 14 young activists in Beni Mellal, Morocco, from the 4th to the 8th of February. The workshop, part of AICHA project activities, took place in the Sultan Moulay Slimane University and was led by two trainers (Marion Lambert and Elise Fouillet) and two activists (Meganne Boho, from Ivory Coast and Warkha Fatou Sambe, from Senegal), who shared their experience of feminist activism and their communication skills of video-making.
The workshop led to the development of a common strategy on gender-based cyber violence and of three media products for online dissemination. From the 6th to the 8th of March, International Women’s Day, the participants, supported by the project’s partner organizations, will launch the media products they worked on. The products are aimed at raising awareness of online gender violence and existing laws, and sharing practical indications on what to do if surviving cyber violence.
Addressing gender violence in general and related to specific issues such as consent and rape culture, by focusing on the knowledge, means and awareness that allow the violence itself to be recognized, is fundamental to eradicate it. The creation of feminist products with male and female participants also allows us to work on deconstructing social norms and discriminatory dynamics.
The Aicha project – Living together free from violence in a fair society for all – is in partnership with ProgettoMondo (leader), Association Qualification de Jeunes (AQJ), Collectif Civil pour la Défense des Droits des Femmes (CCDDF) and in collaboration with the associated organizations Entraide Nationale, Préfecture Khouribga and University of Beni Mellal. It is funded by the European Commission.
