On the 14th and 15th of May, the Civil7 (C7) summit took place in Rome at FAO headquarters during the Italian G7 Presidency.
Aidos attended the event and organized the panel “The right to Bodily autonomy: a right for achieving gender equality” with the following speakers: Monica Ferro (UNFPA UK), Meganne Lorraine Boho (Ivorian League for Women’s Rights), Carmen Ryan (Fundación Huesped) and Beatrice Mariottini (Aidos). The panel was moderated by Barbara Leda Kenny (In Genere, Fondazione Brodolini).
The event was very insightful on how sexual and reproductive rights represent fundamental rights, a precondition for realizing everyone’s potential and for living in fair, free and healthy societies. Having control over your body means having control over your life. For this reason, it was important that the C7 summit requested national governments to implement more adequate policies and resources to guarantee everyone’s freedom of choice.
The #AWorldWhere campaign, launched by Countdown 2030 Europe, was also presented during the meeting.
