World Contraception Day | Aidos

The 26th of September is World Contraception Day and with the #AWorldWhere Campaign, promoted by Countdown 2030 Europe – a consortium of 14 associations expert in sexual and reproductive health and rights of which Aidos is part – we ask to increase funding to guarantee access to contraception, sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The Atlas of contraceptive policies in Europe, created by the EPF-European Parliamentary Forum to evaluate access to online supplies, advice and information regarding contraception, pointed out that in 2023 only 16 countries globally offered excellent access to contraception, while in 40 countries it is still very low.

Although many contraceptive methods exist, the problem remains access to supplies, advice and information. Aidos will keep pushing for building a world in which all people, regardless of gender, race, disability, age, religion, socioeconomic background, can freely decide about their bodies and their future.

On World Contraception Day, we advocate for the urgency of accessible and non-stigmatizing contraceptives, so that every person has the right to decide whether, how many, when and where to have children, as well as having access to adequate and easily available information.
