BACKGROUND
The project is carried out within the framework of EU AID Volunteers, an initiative of the European Union to promote citizens’ volunteerism in humanitarian contexts. The initiative provides practical support to humanitarian aid projects and contributes to strengthening local capacity and resilience of disaster-affected communities. It promotes cooperation among European citizens, working together with communities in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or post-crises and encourages the cooperation among local, European and international organisations.
GOALS
Overall objective : To strengthen the capacities of teams from eight humanitarian organizations to work with volunteers in context of humanitarian crisis. Specific objectives : 8 humanitarian organizations will receive assistance and support to obtain the EU AID Volunteers hosting organization´s certificate and will participate in trainings on humanitarian volunteering, humanitarian aid, disaster response and protection in contexts of humanitarian crisis from a gender perspective. An International Consortium among 10 organizations will be created to carry out the project: 2 organizations from EU countries, MPDL in Spain and AIDOS in Italy, and 8 from third countries in Jordan, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Colombia, with extensive experience in the humanitarian projects management field.
BENEFICIAIRES
15 staff from each country’s hosting organisations trained on SRH and 15 trained on SGBV (total 120 staff).
AIDOS ACTIVITIES
AIDOS will carry out the following activities:
- developing a manual in English and Spanish on SRH and SGBV as a tool supporting the work of hosting organisations, for continuous evaluation on how the two issues are being addressed in contexts of humanitarian crises.
- face-to-face and online training courses, targeting the staff (social workers, project managers, community facilitators, etc.) of volunteers’ hosting organisations, in each of the targeted countries, plus remote technical assistance, on sexual and reproductive health, sexual and gender-based violence in humanitarian aid contexts.
- contribution to gender mainstreaming in the project implementation by supporting the creation of tools for monitoring and evaluation of the project, ensuring that the gender perspective is included in the project partners’ activities.
EXPECTED RESULTS
- 1 manual developed considering the specific needs, legislative framework and context of each of the targeted countries. The manual will be used and tested during the training courses
- 2 training courses in each country (1 on SRH and 1 on SGBV).
- 1 set of tools, developed by project partners, for monitoring and evaluation of the gender approach of the project, revised.
