THE CAMPAIGN

PROMOTED WITHIN

THE CAMPAIGN
How do we imagine a world where
sexual and reproductive health is a reality?
We are part of an interconnected society: what affects one person, actually affects everyone at the same time. Our destinies are inextricably intertwined, especially in front of the impacts due to climate changes, conflicts, economic crisis, pandemics.
The same applies when fundamental rights and freedoms are restrcited, especially the bodily autonomy of women and girls. Denying the chance to take decisions on one’s health means to harm not only individuals, but to weaken entire communities. Guaranteeing sexual and reproductive rights globally means promoting societies where people are healthier, satisfied, and fully capable of being agents of change.
The inequalities that today restrain life’s possibilities are the product of a patriarchal, capitalist, and neocolonial system. Nonetheless, this system can be redesigned and transformed, by recognising that our future is shared and by building a world where everyone can equally benefit from resources and opportunities, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, background, disability, age, etc.
THE CAMPAIGN IN ONE SENTENCE
The #AWorldWhere campaign aims at imagining this kind of world, focusing on bodily autonomy and on the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights. More specifically, the campaign wants to reinforce Europe’s commitments on these issues, with the aim of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, advancing gender equality and reinforcing health systems. The question that guided us was, indeed, how do we imagine a world where sexual and reproductive health is a reality.
NINE OBJECTS, NINE RIGHTS
Every object tells a story
For the second year of the European campaign A World Where at the national level, we have created a virtual exhibition of symbolic objects related to sexual and reproductive health and rights. The objects were previously displayed during the Festival Poster – Beyond stereotypes organised by Aidos, a transfeminist day dedicated to dismantle patriarchal norms, and to imagine and build spaces free from stereotypes.
The objects, the questions, and the answers raised on that occasion have generated reflections and accounts, useful for a collective reasoning on what having access to sexual and reproductive rights actually means for gender equality and human rights. All of that has converged into the virtual exhibition that you are now visiting. The objects here are the same displayed at the Festival.
