2023-2025 Gender based violence\/Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE SITUATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Morocco, more than one in two women (approximately 54.4%) has experienced violence<\/strong>, according to a survey published by the Ministry of Solidarity, Family, and Social Development. The age group most at risk is between 25 and 29 years old. Based on the survey results, only 28.2% of women who suffered abuse spoke to a person or institution, and just 6.6% filed a report<\/strong>. Gender-based violence occurs most frequently within intimate relationships<\/strong>. In the region where the project is being implemented, half of the girls\/women (50%) reported having experienced physical violence, as well as psychological violence involving devaluation and humiliation (45.4%), and economic violence through deprivation of financial autonomy (12.2%). Two out of ten women reported experiencing psychological and sexual violence even within the broader family unit<\/strong>, beyond the intimate partner context. The region has one of the highest rates of sexual violence in public spaces<\/strong> (11.7%, or 114,987 women) and the highest rate of early marriages<\/strong> in Morocco (28.8%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

General objective:<\/strong>
To strengthen the engagement of civil society organizations (CSOs) and young activists in the region in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).

Specific objectives:<\/strong>
To enhance the capacity of CSOs and young activists to act as key players in good governance and development in the following areas:
\u2013 Prevention and awareness-raising on GBV in the region;
\u2013 Protection and access to services for girls\/women at risk or survivors of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACTIVITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activity 1.<\/strong> Research on gender stereotypes, gender-based violence (GBV), and gender equality in the B\u00e9ni Mellal \u2013 Kh\u00e9nifra region.
Activity 2.<\/strong> Capacity building for CSOs and young activists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
