Phase I"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2016 &#8211; 2017 Sexual and reproductive health and rights \/ Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>WHERE<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><strong>Europe<\/strong>: Italy, France, Belgium \u2013 <strong>Africa<\/strong>: Mali, Burkina Faso, Uganda<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>PARTNERS<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><strong>European partners <\/strong>: AIDOS (Italy), Equilibres &amp; Populations &#8211; Equipop (France) and GAMS Belgique (Belgium);\u00a0<strong>African partners<\/strong>: AMSOPT (Mali), Mwangaza Action (Burkina Faso), UMWA (Uganda).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>BACKGROUND<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>According to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/data.unicef.org\/resources\/female-genital-mutilationcutting-global-concern\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNICEF<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>at least 200 million women and girls in thirty countries,<\/strong> mainly but not exclusively African, have been subjected to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unfpa.org\/resources\/female-genital-mutilation-fgm-frequently-asked-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Female Genital Mutilation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(FGM) &#8211; although the exact number remains unknown. Cases of FGM have also emerged in Europe as a result of migratory flows from countries where this practice is widespread. According to estimates by the European Parliament,\u00a0<strong>500,000 women who have suffered FGM live in Europe <\/strong>and<strong> 180,000 girls are at risk<\/strong>.\u00a0Migrants have an important role in the fight against FGM: they can both encourage their communities to keep FGM alive or, on the contrary, they can play a positive role, showing people how abandoning the practice does not constitute a threat to their cultural identity.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>GOALS<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><strong>General goal<\/strong>: The project, implemented as part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unfpa.org\/unfpa-unicef-joint-programme-eliminate-female-genital-mutilation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the <strong>UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme to Eliminate Female Genital Mutilation,<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0aims to\u00a0<u>promote mutual learning on FGM<\/u> and sharing of experiences between African communities, young activists and professionals\u00a0(active in the fields of communication, health, psychosocial assistance, etc.) engaged in activities related to FGM in Europe and Africa.<br \/>\n<strong>Specific goals<\/strong>: to\u00a0<u>improve prevention and advocacy activities and support<\/u> of women and girls who have undergone FGM in Africa and in Europe; to <u>contribute\u00a0to the global abandonment of FGM<\/u>, through the involvement of migrant communities living in Europe and those in their countries of origin with a \u201c<u>building bridges&#8221; approach<\/u>, aiming at enabling and strengthening synergies and cooperation between diaspora communities and communities in their homeland.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">RESULTS<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/translate.google.com\/website?sl=it&amp;tl=en&amp;ajax=1&amp;u=https:\/\/copfgm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&#8220;Community of Practice on FGM (CoP FGM)&#8221;<\/strong><\/a>, \u00a0an informal group that provides virtual spaces for discussion, ideas and the sharing of information and good practices on FGM was created.<br \/>\nThe project also carried out activities aimed at <u>involving the communities in France and Mali<\/u>\u00a0in the common path of abandoning FGM.<\/p>\n<p><u>Two training workshops for the production of videos on FGM<\/u> were organized. In Ouagadougou, the\u00a0&#8221;\u00a0<strong>Filmer le pont&#8221;\u00a0 workshop<\/strong>\u00a0 brought together fifteen young people (from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal) living in Africa and Europe who worked together to share their experiences and to produce the video\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/translate.google.com\/website?sl=it&amp;tl=en&amp;ajax=1&amp;u=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3DlnwdmDdLKvI%26list%3DPL1prKMlMQpV9ObIA4duWHonXsYYWT4D1A%26index%3D2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>De retour au pays<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0\u201d <\/strong>(casting, script, shooting, editing, etc ). The <strong>\u201cFilming the Bridge\u201d workshop<\/strong>, organized in Kampala (Ouganda), brought together fifteen young people (from Egypt, Gambia, Germany, Kenya, Nigeria, Portugal, Somalia, Uganda and the United Kingdom) who worked together \u00a0on the \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/translate.google.com\/website?sl=it&amp;tl=en&amp;ajax=1&amp;u=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3DIbhQ4BEE9g4%26list%3DPL1prKMlMQpV9ObIA4duWHonXsYYWT4D1A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u201cOne Voice\u201d<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0video production. <\/strong>As part of the same project, the participants developed personal projects by making\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/translate.google.com\/website?sl=it&amp;tl=en&amp;ajax=1&amp;u=https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/y9u8fe65\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">six other videos<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0shot in Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali, Kenya, United Kingdom and Egypt.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">WHEN<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>12 September 2016 &#8211;
